Jim Anctil, owner of Marie’s Movers, is a native of Prospect, CT. In 1976, his parents opened a Jefferson Pine furniture store at the Heritage Village Bazaar in Southbury. From that time on Jim assisted with, and then managed, the furniture deliveries of his family’s business. In 2008, with the encouragement of his customers in Heritage Village, Jim began doing small moves. By 2012 the moving portion of Marie’s became Jim’s sole occupation. Jim’s ascendancy into the moving business through a retail background is unusual in the field and is responsible for the polite customer service-oriented attitude that is the defining characteristic of a Marie’s Movers’ crew.
At Marie’s Movers, every member of our team is a direct employee, not a subcontractor.
This means the people handling your belongings are trained, insured professionals who work for Marie’s Movers on a consistent basis—many full-time.
We invest in our employees through benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage, optional retirement plans, and streamlined, hands-on training.
Because our movers are covered by workers’ compensation insurance, you’re fully protected from liability for any injuries that might occur during your move.
We also believe that personalized service begins with an in-person estimate.
Our experienced estimators—with over 20 years combined in the moving industry—visit your home to provide a free, no-obligation quote and answer your questions directly.
Whether you’re rearranging a studio apartment or relocating a five-bedroom home, we’ll provide accurate, transparent information tailored to your needs.
If an in-person visit isn’t possible, we can arrange a virtual estimate by FaceTime or video call.
For most out-of-state moves, Marie’s Movers offers competitive fixed-rate pricing—so there are no surprises later.
If unexpected traffic or delays occur, the cost is on us, not you.
We also provide exact delivery dates, unlike companies that offer multi-day windows.
When you book with us, you can schedule the precise day your truck will arrive, giving you total control over your timeline.
Marie’s Movers has a proud legacy rooted in over five decades of family entrepreneurship.
We’ve been building this reputation for reliability since 1973, when Marie and Jim’s father first opened Marie’s Country Furnishings—a Southbury staple known for its curated antique furniture and unique New England decor.
What started as a small local business built on trust and craftsmanship has grown into a moving company that continues to embody those same principles today.
Our long-standing presence in the community reflects our unwavering commitment to quality, honesty, and personalized service.
At Marie’s Movers, we stand by our work and our customers.
Our dedicated operations and logistics staff are available to resolve any questions or issues that arise before, during, or after your move.
We understand that moving ranks among life’s most stressful events—right alongside major milestones such as loss, divorce, or a career change.
That’s why our mission is simple: to make your move as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Our reputation for quality service is built on consistent communication, care, and accountability every step of the way.
